The Society started life in 1979 in the Product Engineering Department of Ford Tractor Operations in Basildon, Essex. If anybody has a better handle on the way the Society started please email Bill Starkey at "[email protected]"
The current logo is based on the last tractor model released by the Basildon Product Development department of New Holland before the redundancy programme of 2009. This is the third and probably last logo change based on the tractor image. The use of golf balls as wheels has been a feature of the previous two logos, see above, the first of which was a Ford 2 wheel drive Basildon built model of the 1970's. The second was, somewhat obscurely, based on a North American released vehicle in the 1980's.
